How to Live Everyday by Faith
How To Live Everyday By Faith
Living by the Word is the life of faith. Every believer who desires to have a victorious life in Christ must live by faith because it is one's faith that makes one an overcomer. Scripture makes it clear that living by faith is synonymous to living a victorious life. Some believers claim to have attempted living by faith and it did not work. However many do not understand what it means to live by faith and how. The bible teaches the believer to live by his own faith as the following scriptures tell us:
1 John 5:4 - For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world; and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
Romans 1:7 - For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, the just shall live by faith.
But what does it really mean to live by faith?
- Give the Word 1st place
Build your life around the word of God, do not just read the bible when it is convenient. It is critical that every believer makes out time to study God's word. And we should give it first place in our lives.
Proverbs 4:20-22 - My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh.
- Feed on the Word regularly by reading and meditating on the Word daily
Many believers know the importance of reading the word but we must also realize the importance of quiet meditation on the Word. To meditate is to ponder, to think deeply upon and mutter softly. Every Christian should make it a priority to meditate on the scriptures in addition to their daily bible reading and study.
Joshua 1:8 - This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you[a] shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
- Practice the Word by being a doer of the Word
Act on the Word of God. Faith is acting on the Word of God.
James 1:22 - But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
One way to act on the Word is to say the same thing as it.
2 Cor 4:13 And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak.
The lifestyle of faith believes what the Word of God says regardless of whatever the situation may be saying. The faith lifestyle is also bold enough to say what the word of God says about the situation. Therefore it is important to believe and speak the word of God.
- Make the Word the final authority in your life
Believers should consider the Word of God as the final authority in their lives. For example when your body says you are sick and the Word of God says that you are healed.
1 Peter 2:24 - who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.
The Word should take pre-eminence over what your body is saying. To make the Word of God your final authority is to put it above everything else. Even expert opinions! So start speaking and acting on the Word of God, that way you will be living a lifestyle of faith and become strong in the Lord. Amen.
